If youre a fan of piano greats like Mary Lou Williams,
Dorothy Donegan, Art Tatum and Chris Anderson, Consuelall
be right up your alley. With her drummer, Sangoma Everett, she
does Ellington, Waller, Kern and Berlin to pianistic perfectionand
writes ensnaring originals. I hear an arrestingly inventive jazz
pianist with a gorgeous classical touch, one who encompasses stride,
swing, bebop and Debussy. Consuela is widely respected by jazz
greats, equally for her impeccable piano sound, her unique harmonic
creativity and her selfless dedication to resurrecting her grandfathers
Snow Hill Institute. She re-opened this historic black boarding
school, originally founded in 1893, to offer drama, dance and
musical education to impoverished children in rural Alabama. CD
proceeds will help fund her struggling non-profit. To find out
